Big plans for Martineau Gardens  October 4, 2023

As you may have noticed if you’ve visited us recently, there have been some big changes at the garden.

The old Mollie Martineau building has come down to make way for a brand-new building in the gardens. We are working with APEC architects to plan a new building that will be home to our office staff, volunteers and more.

Our planning application is live

We have now submitted our application for planning. Full details of the plans are now available online – the easiest way to access them is www.birmingham.gov.uk/planningonline using reference 2023/04860/PA.

We welcome any views on the plans, and of course your support for the application would be greatly appreciated. The application is currently open for views and comments.

Our aim for the building is to create an environmentally friendly, community hub that is a space for education, our volunteers, staff, visitors and the wider community. The new building will be wooden and built using sustainable materials and methods, including solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems. You can find out more about our plans and progress here.

We are really excited for this new stage in the life of the gardens, and the new building will be at the heart of a continued era helping people to grow and thrive. We would love your support and welcome any views, comments, suggestions and of course donations!
