Join us for a special festive family Stick Man event at Martineau Gardens this December. There are four activity times to choose from – each begins with a showing of the Stick Man film in our cosy Pavilion, with a drink and a biscuit included for children. Accompany your child on the Stick Man Trail around the gardens and woodland, and finish by making a Stick Man Christmas tree decoration back indoors to take home.
Sessions are led by Juliette Green, our Education Officer. This is a family learning event with plenty of fun and play along the way. Activities are aimed at children aged 3—7 years, but tickets for older participating siblings who want to join in, can be bought too (supervised children only; parents/carers are expected to stay and join in, but don’t pay.) (Adults can enjoy a hot drink and biscuit for a donation.)
Book your tickets here:
Advance booking is essential – select your session here and you will be redirected to wegottickets to make your payment (fee shown includes booking fee):
The £11 ticket on Saturday 21 December includes a small plush Stick Man toy (RRP £5.99) for each child (the £6.60 ticket on Thursday 19 December doesn’t include a toy.)
Here’s what you need to know:
Refund policy: Bookings for courses and events are non-refundable unless Martineau Gardens has to cancel an event or course due to unforeseen circumstances.
Each session caters for a maximum of 20 children so advance booking is recommended. You just need to book a ticket for each participating child (not the attending adult nor non-participating youngsters in pushcahirs) – space in our Pavilion is limited so we may need to limit numbers inside to one adult per child. Empty prams/pushchairs can be stored inside our hothouse during the indoor parts of the session.
Dress for the weather, as parts of the session will take place outside. The Gardens serves hot and cold drinks (for which donations are welcomed) but not food.
Please note: you can also follow the Stick Man Trail at other times through a self-guided trail – it’s free to take part but donations are welcomed to help our beautiful community garden stay open for free.
Martineau Gardens is a beautiful therapeutic community garden, a place where people, plants and wildlife meet. Your ticket price contributes to the great things that happen here, and helps to keep Martineau Gardens open, for all to enjoy.
We are one of a very select group of city farms, community gardens and care farms in the UK that have been chosen to host a Stick Man trail, which have been created by Social Farms & Gardens, the UK wide charity supporting communities farm, garden and grow together. Find out more about Social Farms & Gardens via www.farmgarden.org.uk
The Stick Man trail (installed thanks to the support of Magic Light Pictures) is based on the much-loved Stick Man picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
