With Spring well and truly here, come bring the little ones to Martineau Gardens for these family learning activities, enjoy a diferent side to the gardens, with craft and environmental activities. Led by Juliette Green (our Environmental Education Officer), there are six of these popular outdoor sessions to choose from – morning session (10.30am – 12.30pm) or an afternoon session (1.30pm – 3.30pm).

  • Spring Family Explorers Thursday 14 April: Take part in a signs of Spring trail and do some pond dipping. Finish with some Spring crafts. Dress in bright spring colours!
  • Dinosaur Discovery Thursday 21 April: ‘We’re going on a dino hunt!’ Make an explorer hat, then enter the woods to search for dinosaurs. Create a clay fossil, do an archaeological dig and finish with a dinosaur story. Bring along your own toy dinosaurs if you have them!
  • Seed-themed activities for Earth Day Friday 22 April: Investigate the science of seeds and create some seed-based craft. Sow your own sunflower seeds and decorate a pot to take home.

Advance booking essential, via wegottickets.  Ticket cost is £7.50 per child (no discount for siblings) including on-line booking fee. This is a family learning event, so a parent or carer is expected to join in, and your place is free. Due to ongoing Covid restrictions, we may need to restrict the indoor activities to one adult per child.

Useful to know

These sessions are suitable for children aged three to twelve years old, Please dress appropriately for the weather, since the sessions will take place mainly outside. Bring a drink and a snack, or bring your packed lunch if you’d like to have a picnic at Martineau Gardens. Please note that Martineau Gardens serves hot and cold drinks (donations welcome) but not food.

Getting to to Martineau Gardens

There is a small car park at the Gardens (admission free), but parking is limited and gets busy over school holidays. Consider the green option – boot, bus or bike. Martineau Gardens has a covered bike shed and is well served by buses. The nearest bus routes are  Priory Road: 1;  Bristol Road: 61, 63, X64 ; Pershore Road: 45, 47 .
